We Sharpen Tools!

Rusty Edges Sharpening started out as Russ Johnson sharpening a couple knives on his kitchen table with an oil stone.  I helped customers from the Hardware plus friends and family.

As I sharpened more knives, I started to get requests for other items. First it was saw chains, then carbide saw blades. Each of these requests required some study on my part to learn how to sharpen those items and the equipment to competently do the job. We now have about 10 grinders or specialized tools for sharpening. But I still enjoy sharpening with an oil stone at the table.

The future looks interesting. Russ is a second generation sharpener, learning from his father, Justin (Red) Johnson, who was a sharpener at Chris Craft Corporation. Now the next generations are learning. A grandson has helped. A daughter in law is helping. And more requests for sharpening  are coming in. 

We are strongly considering our next projects. We have had to turn down requests for salon and grooming shears and clippers. We are looking at adding that equipment and learning those techniques. We are also looking at starting a mail in service for outlying areas. 

We would like to expand to better serve the Holland Michigan area. Hardware Stores and Sporting Goods Stores are great partners. We are eager to add more drop off spots. We think we offer a nice incentive plan to our partner stores. We would like to add into the building trades via lumber and building suppliers.
